It’s just over a year since Greyhart Press opened up shop as an eBook publisher, specialising in short fiction. It’s now time to play The Last Post and lower the flag on that enterprise…
… and time to raise the colors on a new Greyhart Press without the ‘eBook’ qualifier, because with our move to balance short fiction with an approximately equal number of novel-length books, we’re simultaneously moving to the print format too. We already have four books in print. By the fall we’ve committed to publishing another 14. By Christmas I expect we’ll have a list of 20 paperbacks. So start buying those XXXL stockings to give to your friends and family so you fill them with all our paperbacks for Christmas Day.
That doesn’t mean backing away from eBooks, in case you’re wondering. We’ll still be producing short fiction books that make more sense as eBooks only, and all our paperbacks will also be available as eBooks. In particular, I still believe that eBook editions of novellas and novelettes will prove an extremely well-earned return to prominence for a form of fiction that had largely died out over the past century due to commercial pressures only.
More on our list of forthcoming books tomorrow. For now, let’s enjoy watching the flag being raised. It occurred to me that flag-raising is a hugely contextual and personal thing. So I picked a few favorites from YouTube, and leave you to decide which is most suitable for Greyhart Press…
McDonald’s gives you wind…
Size isn’t everything…
Iconic…
Stiff upper lips in Bangkok…
Wow- 20 paperbacks by Christmas! Congratulations on Greyhart’s expansion!
Thanks. And thanks for being a cool part of that.
That is wonderful news, and congratulations on one of the most blood-chilling post titles ever penned by a (no longer) e-publisher. “Lowering the flag on…” Egads! 😉
Heh heh! I’m evil, me.
